Day 3

Some days I guess I won’t have much to report. Standard day. 6mins in the machine. There are lasers in the room, one on the left and one to my right and one directly above me. These lasers line up every day to stickers on my body. Stickers that don’t come off For awhile I assume cause they are still there. I’ve decided the linac radiation machine sounds like a choo choo train rotating around my pelvis. Around and around for 6mins solid. Today I visualized I was the warrior fighting cancer cells. I slayed them with my sword and then held them up to the sun and they burned up and disappeared. The visualization is usually in great detail, right down to the armor I’m wearing and how wild I wear my hair. I have the same 2 radiation techs which is nice. I appreciate the consistency. On my way out of radiation today a young woman in a wheelchair with a bald head told me ‘Good job today!’ It was the 1st time another patient has spoken to me. I replied ‘You too!’ Reminder tomorrow to try hard to spread some joy to someone else. We don’t all look sick or feel sick in that cancer center building but we are all there. Together. Being warriors. (Dropped Krissy off at the airport tonight too. She left notes etc though. Fingers crossed)

Welcome to my tribe. I was diagnosed with anal cancer 2/23/21, then found out it was caused by HPV. This is the journey.
